Large (17.72 troy ounces / 6.0 x 15.0 x 6.0 cm) from the Surprise Fraction in Tuscarora. The Surprise Fraction was primarily a gold producer and began production in 1910. Tuscarora was a major gold camp that was heavily exploited in the 1880's and again briefly after 1900. It lay dormant until the 1980's when Fisher-Watt put in a small open pit mine. A few spectacular native gold specimens have been found from time to time by Nevada exploration geologists. State:Nevada City:Tuscarora Date: ID#46679
