Inc. in California. No. C42746, issued to C. Dunham for 100 shares in 1887 in San Francisco. Signed by the vice president and secretary Ames. Not cancelled. Attractive design with green border, black print, and mining and Native American vignettes. National Bank Note Co. 8 x 12.25" Clean. The Sutro Tunnel was a 4-mile Comstock engineering marvel that was completed with a connection to the Savage Mine in 1878. However, it was finished too late to be of great use as the mines had gone far deeper than 1640 feet. Adolph Sutro had left the Comstock for San Francisco, where he would become mayor.
