Nicely matted silk remembrance of Sutters Mill in Coloma. The pressed image is about 8.5 x 12", and the edges are not visible under the mat. The view is somewhat accurate for about 1850. This is a rare piece made in the 1890's. California magazine used many of the really important events of the nineteenth century and put the image on silk. Today, these are exceptionally rare. Our friend California ephemera and art dealer Bill Burger used to hunt for these, and very few were made.
