This model 1850 sword was standard issue to Officers in the US army during the Civil War. This one is 37 in. overall length with a 31.5 in blade. The blade is acid etched on the right side with crossed cannons, an eagle and "E. Pluribus Unum" and in script "Eisenhauer"; and on the left side "US" in a floral motif. There are no markings on the ricasso. Eisenhauer denotes the quality of the sword and not the maker. The guard is in a floral pattern cast brass; the grip is eel skin in wrapped wire intact and in very good condition. There is a red felt washer at the base. The scabbard has brass hangers and drag; leather wrapped in very good condition. Please see photo for details. [ Germany
