Very rare; we have not offered this before. "Mining Works, Clear Creek Co." printed at bottom center. Inc. in New York. No. 167, issued for 10 shares to Marvin Hess in Conestoga, New York in 1866. Signed by president Joseph Glass and the treasurer. Not cancelled. Gold border, two mining vignettes and one of a Native American hunting a buffalo. 25 cent revenue stamp at upper left. Folds, toning. The Syracuse mine was located above Hukill Gulch, some two miles west of Idaho Springs, Clear Creek County. Mentioned on pg. 242 of Hollister (1867): half a mile above Fall River, 7000-8000 ft. of mining property and a mill.
