Johann Tresekt was a prolific map maker in the 1700’s. This map is based upon the work of Johann Treskot and Johann Schmidt. There work on a 23 sheet survey of Russia was completed in 1776 for the Imperial Academy of Sciences. It represented an important leap forward in the modern scientific mapping of Russia. From Lithuania and Poland in the west to the Pacific Ocean and the Aleutian Islands in the east, the Russian Empire sprawls across this map with great detail and refinement. 58 1/2 x 28 1/2". Tear in middle right. Two folds from atlas.
