Tahoe Tavern 1939 advertising cover. 'Truckee & Lk. Tahoe' cancel. Opened very roughly. The 16 mile rail line between Tahoe and Truckee began operation in 1900 and was the brainchild of D.L. Bliss. At Tahoe City, the line ended on the pier and customers could go to the Tahoe Tavern (Bliss owned) or hop on a steamer for a tour around the lake (steamers also Bliss owned). At the time of this cover, the rail was owned by Southern Pacific. City: Lake Tahoe State: California Date: 1939 HWAC# 52911
