This is a view of the Tallac Hotel amongst the forest. If you look closely, you can see a large group on people standing near the hotel. Owned by E.J. "Lucky" Baldwin the Tallac Hotel became one the favorite destinations spot for the wealthy. Named for the Mount Tallac, the hotel operated for 56 years and boasted a casino, small homes and cottages. The photographer is identified as Romanzo Wood, a traveling landscape photographer who was active in Lake Tahoe between 1875-1905 (Mautz). This Stereoview was a part of series titled "Views of Lake Tahoe and Vicinity." Each of the stereoviews measure 3.10" x 3.10" while the matte measures 6.90" x 3.40."
