Red 20 cent California State Tax stamp attached at left, cancelled. Ornate border. Pinholes. 3.5 x 8" Tallant & Wilde established as a private bank in 1850 during the California Gold Rush. Wilde died in 1863 and John McKee, cashier, joined Tallant to become Tallant & Company. They incorporated as a state bank in 1891.
