This knife was made by custom knife maker Ted Dowell of Bend, Oregon; (1929-2012). It appears to be a "lightweight" (at 2.6 oz.) made with D-2 or 440-C steel and ivory micarta scales flanked by thin black liners which adds to the three dimensional look and feel of the knife. It is a tang blade with four nickel silver pins. A makers mark TMD is in an oversized "button" on the left side. The blade is highly polished in a drop point with the ivory colored scales that fade at the back; a piece of mechanical art in your hand. New, never used with matching sheath also with the TMD logo at the throat. 7.750 in. overall length, 3.625 in. drop point blade highly polished. No other markings on the ricasso. Ted was a founding father of the Knife Makers Guild and first president of that guild and Hall of Famer of Cutlery Magazine. C. 1970s. Please see photo for details.
