Pre-1920 Women's Suffrage pieces include three small posters, 9 x 6, 6 1/2 x 5, and 7 x 5, promoting Women's Suffrage causes and events; booklet on "What President Wilson Says," c1917; publications from 1888 and 1919; 1952 Republican primaries publication and official ballot concerning Earl Warren vs. Thomas H. Werdel. Temperance items include 1914 booklet, "Booze, The Sermon That Helped to Make Colorado Dry," and 1898 canceled Oakland postcard from the Anti-Saloon League of California. The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted American women the right to vote, a right known as women's suffrage, and was ratified on August 18, 1920, ending almost a century of protest.
