Simeon Wenban and George Hearst (father of the newspaper tycoon and investor in Nevada mines) became partners in Cortez. But little activity lead George Hearst to sell his investment back to Wenban for little, if any, profit. Simeon Wenban was one of the very few mine owners to employ Chinese workers in his mine. This is the company store ledger for the Tenabo Mine (largest of all Cortez mines by far!). If you ever wanted to own a historic ledger to impress people, this would work. 16 x 11".
