The conviction of a man named Henry Powers of manslaughter over a pasturage dispute with A.H. Van Brocklin that turned violent in 1881 in Madison County. Powers shot Van Brocklin 4 times killing him instantly and came forth to the sheriff immediately after the event occurred. Powers was charged with first-degree murder and convicted of manslaughter.
