Yes, this is territorial. But coal on the Truckee River! Whoever heard of such a thing? Dated on July 8 on folded, non ruled letter sheet. The mine was located at the place known as the Truckee River Coal Ledge on Dog Creek, Crystal Peak City, Washoe County, N. T. It was purchased by George Wilkinson from W. Glengall Kelly. Filed for recording “at the request of Wells Fargo & Co.” by Geo. C. Cabot, the County Recorder. Wilkinson bought 10 feet of the Coal Ledge for $50. But coal meant cheap power, so it was very valuable. The coal, however, turned out to be low grade. The ledge was re-opened in 1869 and an article from the Reno Crescent states that a locomotive ran from Verdi (the new Crystal Peak City) to Reno on the Truckee Coal. Again, the coal was low grade and never used. Affixed to the document is a red, 25 cent, R 48, R4, Power of Attorney, perf., revenue stamp. A small ink stain bottom right. Minor damage in the lower right corner, some small tears and yellowing. Fair to good condition.  State: Nevada Territory City: Crystal Peak City, Washoe Date: HWAC# 99362
