Nevada Territory. Two checks with US Revenue Adhesive Stamps. One to J. Earl signed by John Earl for CL Strong. Earl was the president of the Gould and Curry in 1863 and 1864. He may have been signing these checks for Strong as that is just about the time he was fired (or quit). Charles Lyman Strong was the first superintendent of the Gould & Curry. He was responsible for building the million dollar mill in Six Mile Canyon and then put in the wrong process. It was not very effective which is why, to this day, you will find mills from all over the Comstock working Gould & Curry ore.
