"The Midland Route." Pass no. 409, issued to Thos. R. Brown of the Seattle, Lake Shore & Eastern Railway. Signed by EH Green as president & general manager. Brown print and fancy logo printed on tan cardstock. Edward Howland Robinson "Ned" Green was the son of Hetty Green, known as the "Witch of Wall Street." Hetty Green acquired this railroad by foreclosure in 1892. The line was a 52 mile portion between Garrett and Midland Junction of the Texas Central. Reached Paris, Texas by 1897. Edward Green was also known for his world-class stamp and coin collections. He also became a political ally in the Republican Party of William Madison McDonald, a prominent African-American politician.
