Lot of 3. Created by federal charter in 1871 with the purpose of building a southern transcontinental railroad between Marshall, Texas, and San Diego, California. The T&P never reached San Diego; instead it met the Southern Pacific at Sierra Blanca, Texas, in 1881. Jay Gould bought interest in the RR in the 1870s. 1) 1899 pass to AB Chandler. Signed by the president, George J. Gould, son of railroad tycoon Jay Gould. Green print and fancy logo on cardstock. 2) 1891 pass to RN England. Signed by the 3rd vice president. Black print on cardstock. 3) 1914 pass to DT Mervins. Black and red print on cardstock.
