Extra-rare. The name could point you in many different directions (as there is a Bald Mountain Mine in White Pine County, Nevada), but this was a Central City, Colorado mining operation. Nevadaville, located above Central City, was first named Nevada. A post office was established there in 1861. In 1869, the government changed the name to Bald Mountain, but local residents continued to use the old name Nevada, and commonly the two names would be combined -Nevada Bald Mountain - when referring to this area of the district. Certificate No. 41. Inc. under the laws of Colorado. Issued for 1 share to John P. Gillis on Oct. 17th, 1897. Signed by the president and secretary. Not cancelled. Gold seal, black border and underground mining vignette. Folds, otherwise clean. 8.5" x 11.75" State: Colorado City: Central City Date: 1897 FHWAC#: 41158
