Beautiful color lithograph entitled, "San Francisco/The Call/ New Era Edition/ Dec. 19th 1897 San Francisco." Image is dominated by the Claus Spreckels Building, with trolleys, horse-drawn carriages, and pedestrians on the streets below. Bottom window of the Spreckels Building has sign "San Francisco Call." Blue sky and clouds. Printed by H.S. Crocker & Co. S.F. Measures 16" x 22." Matted and framed. Framed dimensions: 21 1/2" x 31 3/4" This page was the front cover of the 80 page special edition commemorating the newspaper's move into the new building. They used the "New Era" to describe their paper's next phase and San Francisco itself. They argued that the city was moving into an economic recovery and that it should continue to be the dominant city on the West Coast. The issue was spread nation-wide and met with a strong positive response. Condition: As expected from this being in a newspaper, there is a deep fold running through the center of the lithograph.
