Six different editions! This newspaper was published from 1843-1954, by and for the missionaries in Hawaii. 1) The earliest is slightly different format than the other five: New Series, Vol. 11, No. 8, Sept. 1, 1853. Eight pages, including articles about a trip to the Arctic, a small pox outbreak, the politics of Turkey, and more. Once bound, this copy is in very good condition. Bright pages. 11.5" x 9.25" 2) Five other volumes, now in the 1860s and a slight larger format: Vol. 17 No. 2 (Feb. 1, 1868), Vol. 18 No. 6 (June 1, 1868), Vol. 18, No. 7 (July 7, 1868), Vol. 18, No. 8 (August 1, 1868), and Vol. 18 No. 10 (Oct. 1, 1868). Still eight pages, but bound in a different orientation than 1853 edition. Includes ads. Articles about topics such as: the opening of Cornell University, North Pacific whaling, the "coolie system," cannibalism in the Fiji Islands, and many religion-themed topics.
