Rare presentation copy of "The Great Conspiracy: It's Origin and History" by John A. Logan A. R. Hart & Co. Publishers, 1886 edition. 810 pages. 9.75x7.25 inches. Very good condition overall. Some separation of front board at hinges and some chipping/bump damage on corners and spine. Pages are in excellent condition. Gilt and embossed cover and spine, gilt page ends. Many portraits of important figures like Patrick Henry, Edward D. Baker, General John C. Fremont, etc., complete with a fold out map of the battle field of Bull Run, VA.
John A. Logan was a Civil War General who fought with the Union Army of Tennessee and later became a Senator of Illinois. This book is a Memoir piece on his account of the Civil War. The book is presented to Warren Keifer by the publisher A. R. Hart. Keifer signed and dated the title page in ink as well. Warren Keifer was a General and a politician prominent in the 1880's as a member of the House of Representatives and the Speaker of the House.
