Unusual pass from a large railroad and steamer collection. This pass is issued to HH Wheeler for 1891, giving him 50cents a day discount on rooms in the American Plan. Signed by the hotel manager. Front has vignette of a locomotive. Reverse has a vignette of the hotel. Foxing, scuff on reverse. Printed on green cardstock. The Hollenden Hotel was a luxury hotel in downtown Cleveland, Ohio that opened in 1885. It contained 1,000 rooms, 100 private baths, a lavish interior, electric lights and fireproof construction. As Cleveland's most glamorous hotel of the time, it hosted industrialists, celebrities and politicians, including five U.S. Presidents. It was demolished in 1962.
