Full title: "Jesse James: the Life & Adventures of this Bold Highwayman & Bank Robber & his no less celebrated brother, Frank James. Together with the Thrilling Exploits of the Younger Boys." Written by ****** (One Who Dares Not NOW Disclose His Identity). Claims that it is "The Only Book Containing The Romantic Life of Jesse James and his Pretty Wife, Who Clung to Him in the Last!" Published by Barclay & Co., Philadelphia. 1882. This lot features both the English and German 1882 editions, as well as the 1883. The U.S. edition features an illustration of his father on the back cover. The German edition has a blank back cover. Both have the same front cover. Softcovers. 96 pages. 5.75" x 9.5" Light foxing. Covers have creases, soils, and small tears. Delicate paper. Plus two fun Western booklets: Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.

This was the fourth narrative that was published to tell Jesse James's story after his death on April 3, 1882. Illustrations include: the gang celebrating after a bank robbery by shooting at the feet of a slave; the James gang being attacked by pursuers; portraits of gang members; the Ford brothers assassinating James; his mother; the Younger Boys; portrait of Jesse James (same as cover); and the gang and his mother swearing vengeance after his death. Includes descriptions of robberies, as well as letters written by or to James.
