Lot of 2. The New Mexico Mining Co., #352, 530 shares @ $100 par. Issued August 25, 1864, Washington City. Black border, vignette top center of town, embossed seal. Also, #461, issued Nov. 5, 1867, Washington City. Vignette of mining sluice, embossed seal, 25c revenue stamp left side. Both are New Mexico Territory. Each is a different style. Printers : Philp & Solomons & Co., L.M. Rosenthal Corp., The company focused on salvaging and resuming operations at the Ortiz Mine, which had been abandoned by previous lessees in 1842 by purchasing of the Ortiz Grant in 1853. It was later one of the first mining companies incorporated in New Mexico, with some records dating incorporation 1858. Both have discoloration on left side.
