A first edition copy of 'The Sazerac Lying Club' by Fred Hart, a satirical book based on the Nevada mining town of Austin and originally published in 1878. Austin was founded in the 1860s, and attracted miners who were looking to strike it rich in Nevada's booming silver industry. The copy was owned by and is inscribed to Sidney Waite, an early San Bernadino resident who may have been friends with California pioneers Banning and Fairchild. The book is in decent shape for its age; it has some significant wear on the cover and spine, and the binding is somewhat weakened, but it remains in stable condition.
