Simultaneous with the production of folio atlases and geographies was the emergence of a "pocket" genre, often produced by the same cartographers or publishers. This product was both portable and relatively inexpensive in comparison to the size and price of a full-sized atlas. This leather pocket directory was for the entire country at the time. It listed all the principal roads, copious remarks on the rivers and appendix with post office information and military posts, census of the United States, maps, etc. Later edition. Leather bound. Includes a folder to keep notes. Leather is warped, has a one inch tear, is cracking and fading. Pencil drawing on the front blank pages. Some pages are dog-eared and ripped. Staining throughout. No map.194 pages with additional 41 pages of information. [rarity: ii]City: United StatesCounty: State: Date: 1825
