$50 Third Liberty Loan 4 1/4% Gold Bond of 1928. Black with red underprint; vignette of Jefferson at top. Seven dividend coupons still attached. Issued May 9, 1981 and signed by Houston B. Teehee, Register of the Treasury and Wm. McAdoo, Secretary of the Treasury. Certificate is 8 x 7 inches with coupons to left. AU/Unc condition. The Third Liberty Loan Act was an amendment to the previous two Liberty Loan acts, increasing the interest rate to 4 1/4 %. Most of these bonds were sold by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.
