Memorandum of Gold Bullion deposited at Thomas Price's Assay Office and Chemical Laboratory, 524 Sacramento Street, San Francisco. Dated Feb. 25th, 1879. Deposited by The Pacific Bank (of San Francisco). Side of sheet also notes this as a Pima Co. Bank deposit. 31.94 ounces of gold dust containing quartz, .817 fineness. Pinholes, deep folds, some staining along folds. 5.5 x 13" In "Tombstone, A.T.: A History of Early Mining, Milling, & Mayhem," author Shillingberg describes how the Pima County Bank (in Tucson) had connections to the Pacific Bank in San Francisco and that when the branch opened in Tombstone, the relationship was maintained. Gold coin from San Francisco was exchanged for paper money in Tucson. Here, it appears that Arizona gold dust (from Tombstone?) is being deposited in San Francisco.
