This is a bronze medal commemorating the 79th Anniversary of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) established by U.S. founder Thomas WIldey. Wildey was a native Londoner who was orphaned by age five. He later became a philanthropist and moved to American in 1815. Not well liked by Americans fresh from the War of 1812 with Great Britain; he started the American branch of the IOOF in 1817 for benevolence. This medal is dated Sept. 21-26, 1903 in Baltimore, Md. home to the Grand lodge. In 1865 a monument was erected to Wildey in Baltimore, consisting of a statue on a column located on North Broadway Street between East Baltimore and Fayette Streets.
