Three 1878 deeds. 1) 541 2/3 feet in the Grand Central Mine. From Frederick Austin to William Witherell. In 1886 the Grand Central and other large mines flooded. In 1901, the Grand Central Company, the Tombstone Mill and Mining Company and the Contention Company were joined to form the Tombstone Consolidated Mines Company. With the joining of the three companies, the majority of the larger mines in the district were consolidated and the decision was made to once again pump the water and develop the deeper ores. 2) One half interest of 750 feet in the Gadsden Purchase Mine. From Alexander McKay to William Witherall. Witherall and his associates were accused of misleading investors on the profitability of the Gadson Purchase Mine. [Witherall Papers, LSU Libraries] 3) Prelude to the last deed. Arey is giving McIntosh 1/2 of the 750 feet of the Gadson Purchase Mine. Some rips at fold intersections and some staining. Writing is easy to read! Miniature red seal. Signed and witnessed. William J Osborn was the notary. Date: 1878 Location: Pima County, Arizona HWAC# 60243
