Three, issued and cancelled bonds from the Chicago & Alton Railroad Company. Includes 1st Mortgage bond, $1,000, issued 1862, payable 1893; Income Bond issued in 1862, $1,000, due 1883; and $500 Income bond issued in 1862, payable in 1883. All three bonds are signed by Samuel J. Tilden as trustee. Tilden was governor of New York from 1875-1877 and ran for President in 1876. He won the popular vote, but lost the electoral vote by one. The bonds are hole cancelled and two of them have a rectangle cut out. Please view the closeup pictures or inquire if any questions regarding condition.
