All three are Trench Mill, Bank of California. 1) RN-C21. Issued 1871 to Union Scales fro $49.40 and signed by Bonanza King John Mackay. Spindle cancel. Folds, some soiling. 2) 1870 check with "T" drawn over printer mistake ("French"). Orange 2 cent Nevada adhesive revenue plus 2 cent IR. Issued to M. Duffin Hastings & Co. for $114.37. Signed by Bonanza King James G. Fair. Spindle cancel, fold. 3) Same as first, RN-C21, but issued in 1872 to J.A.C. Moore for $27.75. Signed by Fair. Spindle cancel, some soiling. The Trench Mill was located in lower Silver City near the mouth of American Ravine and built in 1860 for the huge sum of $40,000. Originally called the Sparrow & Trench Mill after Erastus Sparrow and Joseph Trench who had located a mine in Gold Hill with the same name.
