1) The common, but striking, double ring. September 1, 1908 – three days before the fire. 2) Two unusual straight lines. Something that you might be more apt to find in a library or a business. 'Sept 5, 1908’ and ‘Rawhide’. Being the day after the fire, it must be asking for help or planning on rebuilding. It is send to Edward Kentfield, son of John Kentfield who was in the lumber business in San Francisco. It was often said that Rawhide started to rebuild before the embers went out. 3) Manuscript Rawhide cancel. Four days after the fire and before the post office could order a new cancel. This cover comes with a report from Ted Gruber; co-author of the first Nevada Post Mark Book. September 8, 1908 – four days after the fire!
