Lot of 3 different. 1) Virginia & Truckee Railroad Company. Bank of California. Issued to D.A. Bender (Reno banker). Nov. 1, 1876. RN-G1 Revenue printed stamp. Signed by H. (Henry) M. (Marvin) Yerington. He is reported to have been president of sixteen different companies at one time and actively involved in forty. He is probably best known as the general superintendent and vice-president of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad and as a construction superintendent and president of the Carson and Colorado Railroad. Ripped lower left corner and some toning on corners. 2) Virginia and Gold Hill Water Co. – Bank of California – May 19, 1902 RN-X7 Revenue printed stamp. J. B. Overton signed. In 1871 Overton came to Virginia City to take charge of building the Virginia and Gold Hill Water works which he managed for many years at the request of the Bonanza Kings, Fair, Mackey, etc. Scarcest of the checks from this company. The two-story safes from this company were a treasure trove of Comstock documents when they were opened several decades ago. 3) Empire Mill & Mining Company. Nevada and IR adhesive revenue stamps. Issued 1867. Signed by R.N. Graves, well-known Comstock superintendent. A Gold Hill mine. Date: 1867-1902 Location: Virginia City, Nevada HWAC# 57615
