A copy of 'Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There' by Lewis Carroll with illustrations by John Tenniel. This volume is a highly desirable 'People's Edition' from the 1889 printing by MacMillan and Company, and is marked on the title page as a "Fourteenth Thousand" copy. This classic novel, which originated the famous poems 'Jabberwocky' and 'The Walrus and the Carpenter', contains an excellent frontispiece and illustrations throughout. Hardback, no dust jacket, fair condition; cocked and partially detached spine with some minor cosmetic damage to cover, but the pages are in nice shape for a 135-year-old book. Inside cover bears an inscription to Harold W. Barnicott from his mother, dated 1890. See photos.
