Louis Comfort Tiffany is internationally recognized as visionary of the Art Nouveau style in America. Tiffany Studios is world-renowned for decorative lamps and stained-glass windows. Louis Comfort Tiffany officially opened Tiffany Glass Company in 1885, which was changed to Tiffany Studios in 1900. Tiffany was the leading art glass producer in the 1890s, serving wealthy New Yorkers and commissioning pieces for Mark Twain, Cornelius Vanderbilt and the New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Tiffany once stated that his carefully designed glass lamps allowed people to enjoy the elements of nature and its beauty all year long. This lamp, like all rare and elegant Tiffany lamps, remains, unarguably one of the most desired antiques to own to date, symbolic of Louis Tiffany's legacy in the Art Nouveau movement.
