EVEN number 5000 for 100 shares to trustee Bayley. Signed by secretary William Lent and president AJ Ralston. Embossed company seal. Black on white; 4 x9 inches, Lith. Britton, Rey Co. S. F. Eight assessment stamps on reverse. AJ Ralston was the brother of William Ralston. When his brother was elected to the United States Senate, he took over the running of many of his mining claims. Secretary William H. Lent was involved in numerous Bodie mines and his father(?) William M. Lent was a key player on the Comstock and in Bodie. From the Pacific Coast Annual Mining Review and Stock Ledger 1878, "A shaft has been sunk to the depth of 200 feet, and discloses three veins, all gold-bearing. The indications partake of the same properties as the Standard, and there is no doubt, should present indications be verified, that the Tioga will prove one of the most prosperous mines in the district.”
