Toned floral etched pot, oval mother of pearl piece at top by Bernice Moquino. 2" h x 2.75" diameter. This is intricately carved sgraffito and is colored with natural pigments on black. Bernice Moquino was born in 1970 and has been potting since the age of 19. She is the daughter of Corn Moquino and Christine Herrera. She has eight brothers who are also potters: Christopher, James, Marvin, Mark, Martin, Matthew, Michael & Melvin. Bernice makes finely etched sgraffito pottery often with flower, hummingbird, butterfly and ladybug motifs. She credits her brother James and her father Corn as her teachers.
