No. E38 issued in 1914 to Dr. E.A. Wheeler, chief surgeon over entire line. Printed signature of MB Cutter as president and countersigned by W.D. Forester. Signed on reverse by Wheeler. Printed on pink cardstock. Light wear. According to History of Colorado Vol. 3 (Clarke, 1918), Wheeler was killed in a car crash on June 8, 1914 (same year of pass issue) on the road between Tonopah and Goldfield. It also states that he was one of the "eminent surgeons of the United States, particularly noted for his spinal operations, whereby he restored many helpless cripples." Having been educated and worked in Denver, Wheeler was also once Esmeralda County physician, surgeon for the Goldfield Mine Operators Association, surgeon for Goldfield Cons. Mines Company, and was in charge of St. Mary's Hospital in Goldfield. (Prag Collection) City: Tonopah State: Nevada, Date: Inventory# 39077
