Stock Certificate from the Topeka Gold Mining Company. Incorporated in 1866 in Massachusetts. Certificate number 35 issued on March 20, 1866 at Boston. Issued to A. P. Treadwell, signed by president E.A. Rothesey(?) and secretary. Size 8.75" by 6". Mine located in Arapahoe County. 50 Shares Issued to Treadwell, possibly related to Treadwell of Nevada mining history. Transferred May 23, 1866 to Burmingham on reverse. Plain, no image. The first mining camp established in Colorado, inhabited by the white man, was within the boundaries of Arapahoe county. The county was organized when territorial organization began, in 1861. Very Rare, unlisted mining company. Creased twice with water marks along folds, but no holes or tears.
