This string of beads was collected at a site known as the "bead-patch" on the Columbia River near the Dalles,Oregon, and Klickitat County, Washington prior to the building of the dam there (in 1952). The site was originally a trading post during the fur trade era first with English and later Americans (1790's-1840's). Lewis and Clark camped near here for three days in October of 1805. This string is about 35 in. in length with beads consistent with the trade beads of the era from Europe. Oregon
