Certificate #129 from the Trail Canyon Mining Company issued in 1907 for 100 shares to Sidney F. Tyler and signed by T.L.(Tasker) Oddie as president. Inc. in South Dakota. Offices, Tonopah, Nevada. Although the certificate states the mines were located in the Gold Mountain district, in the spring of 1907 Charles M. Schwab, Oddie, and F. J Leutjens expanded the assets of the company by purchasing five promising claims in Trail Canyon whose assays were running from $50 to $3,000 per ton. Trail Canyon is located southwest of Furnace Creek on the eastern flank of the Panamint Mountains near Wildrose and Skidoo. The New York stock market collapse in 1907 spread west and caused two Goldfield banks to close. Five Oddie backed companies failed, including this one when Oddie could not make good his obligations to the shareholders or the Tonopah Banking Corporation, which had invested in his development work (Loren Briggs Chan, Sagebrush Statesman: Tasker L. Oddie of Nevada 1973). Nice clear signature from Oddie as president. Security Bank Note Company, Phila. Printer. Uncancelled. VF. City: Death Valley State: Nevada Date: HWAC# 51241
