Very rare. No. 998, issued for 200 shares to inventor and company president Dr. A de Bausset on August 1st, 1888 in Chicago. Signed by de Bausset as president and secretary Jules Langer. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Great vignette of de Bausset's flying machine invention, with "In Orbi Urbi" printed above. Lith. by John Morris Company, Chicago. Folds. 7.75 x 11" According to an 1887 publication by de Bausett entitled "Aerial Navigation," his proposed flying machine was 654 ft. long, 144 ft. in diameter, and featured a steel ballon. Rather than filling the ballon with hydrogen gas, he proposed causing it to lift by creating a vacuum inside of it (hence the need for steel instead of fabric). Great story that highlights the wild ideas proposed in the early stages of aviation!
