This Springfield trapdoor SRC is S/N 139196 with a birthdate of November, 1880 chambered for .45-70. The finish is all original with a clean bore and without any pitting. There is about 40% bluing left on the trigger guard. "US Model 1873" on the trapdoor. The barrel is bright with light patination and an "R" stamped at the breach, the single barrel band has the "U", the rear sight is the ladder type. The lock is marked "U.S. Springfield" with the eagle and about 50% bluing remaining. The buttplate has the US at the heel with the swing type door storing the bright blue cleaning rod. There is an inspectors cartouche of "S 1880". 41 in. overall length 21 in barrel. Very good to excellent condition. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii.
