Large wall map, 3 x 5 feet, varnish, cloth backed, excellent condition. Incredible, and rare map, shaded relief, shows 160 of the most important mines and mine owners, plus owners of all private parcels. Certain areas remained surveyed, such as southeast of Hayfork, SW of Hyanpome Valley, and NNW of Weaverville. The Trinity region was a major placer district during the gold rush years, and later as major lode deposits were discovered. It also, along with Shasta, became a center of a new kind of gold deposit, the "massive sulfide" deposits of pyrite, gold, copper. This map is unquestionably the most important mining map of Trinity County. We have not seen another in our 50 yrs. Does not appear to be listed in OCLC. Trinity County California
