Certificate #181 to Jas.G Cooper for 9,250 shares (of 100,000) and signed by president J. G. Cooper. Vignette shows 2 miners working underground Small bottom vignette shows 2 women with a shield and eagle The back of the certificate has 18 revenue stamps: 4 yellow US $10 stock transfer, 4 blue New York $10 stock transfer, 3 brown New York $2 transfer and 4 misc. smaller denomination stamps. The Trinity vein was described by Hill as having $20 a ton ore. Galena was, and still is, an important mining area. This mine was probably swallowed up by the large open pit mines. James Graham Cooper, friend to J. J. Audubon, worked as a zoologist for the Geologic Survey of California. Cooper's work on birds in conjunction with the survey was considered, "by far the most valuable contribution to the biography of American birds that has appeared since the time of Audubon."
