Green border. Paid for in $1 monthly installments for total $24 per share price. Back of certificate shows payments and signatures. 2 vignettes of working miners inside and outside. Early 1840s, James Marshall began working for John Sutter who was building a farming empire, which became known as Sutter’s Fort. January 1848, Marshall discovered gold in the raceway of the sawmill on south fork of American River. Sam Brannan had come to Sutter’s Fort earlier and opened a general store. Brannan heard and leaked the news of gold being found. The gold rush began. 2) 100 shares Consolidated South Spring Hill Gold Mining Co., mine located in Amador Co, CA, cert. #117 issued to H.H. South Spring Hill is a gold mine located in Amador county, CA at an elevation of 1,260 feet. Mine produced approximately $2,000,000 in gold, mainly between 1885-1895, after being located in 1851.
