Rough turquoise - Grade 2.5. Decent color. Some treated. Some spider web. Approximate weight 8.4 pounds. Largest piece about 2.5" x 1.5" x 1", smallest about .5" diameter. From No. 8 turquoise mine, located in Eureka county, north of Carlin, Nevada. The first claim on the Number 8 mine was filed in 1929. Afterwards, several famous turquoise miners owned the mine in the ensuing years. The premier spider web turquoise ever discovered was found by the mining brothers, T.G. and J. W. Edgars, while mining for copper. Number 8 is also the mine that produced a selection of the biggest nuggets ever found in history. It closed in 1976, making pieces from No. 8 highly valuable.
