100 shares of Tuscarora Mill & Mining Company, cert. #709 issued Sept 3, 1878, signed by B. Laude, pres., M.E. Sperling, secy . Incorp. Sept 15, 1877. Located in Tuscarora District, Elko county, NV. In 1876 a bonanza was found in Tuscarora, richest vein in the area. Over the next year, a lot of mining machines and miners came to work there. By the following year it became a booming mining town with almost 5000 people. Production more than doubled making it the largest mining district in northern Nevada. At its' largest production period it had a post office, numerous restaurants and saloons, a number of churches, public schools, a private school, two newspapers, ballroom and ballet dancing academies, Independent Order of Good and Odd Fellow Templars and the lodges of the Masons. During full production there were over 10 silver mines and six mills that processed ore. Between years of 1878 and 1884 silver bullion worth millions of dollars was mined annually.
