Built in 1859 by Thomas Wheeler. At the time Twelve Mile House was very important as it was twelve miles from the important town of Genoa and twelve miles from the important Cradlebaugh Bridge over the Carson River. It was on the road between the Capital of Carson City and the mining town of Aurora. In 1887 Aurora was experience a smaller, but still multi-million, second boom.
